Kay Beauty By Katrina: Newest Make-Up On The Block
The newest make-up brand in the market is the Kay Beauty by Katrina. We have already seen professionals from the entertainment industry in Hollywood who came up with brilliant cosmetic brands. The biggest examples would be Fenty Beauty by Rihanna and Kylie Cosmetics by Kylie Jenner. We are all well aware of these brands thanks to the social media. But because of the very same reason, we were also very excited to see what Katrina Kaif comes up with. Her independent make-up line was launched on 22nd of October exclusively on Nykaa.com.
The number of products are few in number and not that unique from anything else in the market. The entire range offers five categories of products. These include kohl, eyebrow pencil, lip pencils, lip crayons and lip toppers. The kohl liner and eyebrow pencils come in three different shades. The lip crayon, lip pencil and lip topper comes in twenty-four, twelve and six shades respectively.
The idea behind coming up with lip products was to perfect the 3D lip. As Katrina herself said, she likes her lips to be plum and “3D” looking. This is exactly what she translated with her products. The lip liner is in the form of a pencil which needs to be sharpened. Lip liners are easy to break and are best in the form of a pencil. The Matteinee Lip Crayons are just what they promise to be, a 100% matte. The MaeStrobe Lip Topper is in the form of a lip gloss, which is meant to finish off the 3D look.
The kohl pencils from the range come in three different varieties. The first one is in the form of gel and is called Kay Beauty Gel Kajal – Onyx. The second one is a smokey eye liner called Kay Beauty Smokey Kajal – Raven Hue. The third one is a 24-hr stay kajal called Kay Beauty 24-hr Stay Kajal – Spade. All the three kajal pencils have shade names too, hinting at probably an expansion of the range. The eyebrow pencils come in three different shades – Chestnut, Hazelnut and Walnut. These pencils claim to bring about a natural finish to your brows.
Considering the general reviews of the brand, the quality seems to have satisfied most make-up lovers. However, the pricing of the products did not. Keeping these subjective preferences aside, the brand stands for breaking the notions of the unreal beauty standards. Using stars like Nayanthara and Saina Nehwal in her campaign, amongst many more, Katrina put her message of inclusivity across loud and clear. This is exactly what the Indian beauty market needed and we are happy an initiative has already been made.
